Villa Nova Atlético Clube is a Brazilian sports club, headquartered in the city of Nova Lima, in the state of Minas Gerais, founded on June 28, 1908 under the name of Villa Nova Athletic Club (the name of the association was contributed by subsequent statutory reforms ) by English workers of Saint John Del Rey Mining Company Limited. It is popularly known as Leão do Bonfim, nickname that refers to the mascot and the neighborhood of Bonfim, where the club is located. Its stadium is the Estádio Municipal Castor Cifuentes, also known as Alçapão do Bonfim, where its matches are played from 1930, having disputed 3,000 in total in its history, until the match against Atlético Mineiro on March 29, 2015.
