Cruzeiro was founded on January 2, 1921 by sportsmen of an italian colony in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais capital. Its name was at the time, Societá Sportiva Palestra Itália, changing it, by brazilian government requirement, after World War II, to Cruzeiro as a hommage to a great brazilian symbol. Just like the name, the uniform has also changed. Once green and red, Italian flag´s colors, the Club adopted the blue and white, inspired by the Italy team.
