About Barra Mansa

Barra Mansa Futebol Clube is a sports association of Barra Mansa, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, founded on November 15, 1908. Its colors are blue and white. It is considered the first professional team in Brazil. Professionalism in 1911, according to some historians, being considered pioneer in the country. In the decades of 40,50 and 60 the club disputed the Fluminense first division championship. In the 1920s and '60s, the club was seen as a hurricane on the lawns, or as a true Southern Lion, which frightened its opponents. In that period, Barra Mansa won several titles, among which stand out the 1953 champion of Rio de Janeiro and the 1953 Super Fluminese champion, organized by the former Fluminense Federation of Sports.
